A new method was developed for the determination of glycyrrhizic acid in cigarette by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry（HPLC-MS/MS）.The samples were extracted with methnol-5 mmol/L NH4Ac（4∶1） under oscillation,then separated on an Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C18 column（2.1 mm×150 mm，3.5 μm）.The glycyrrhizic acid was detected with HPLC-MS/MS under multiple reaction monitoring（MRM） mode,and quantified by the external standard method.The method had a good linearity（r2>0.999） in the concentration range of 0.05-2.50 mg/L.The recoveries of glycyrrhizic acid were in the range of 89.1%-105.0% with intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations both not more than 5%.The limit of quantitation（LOQ） of method was 4.8 mg/kg.
