In this paper,a method was presented for the determination of formaldehyde in cosmetics based on a dual wavelength spectroscopy,in which both absorbances at 414 nm and 500 nm were used. The results showed that the relative standard deviation(RSD) of the method is only 0.46%,while it is 11.5% by the single wavelength method. The limit of quantitation(LOQ) of the dual wavelength method is 7.4 mg/kg.The present method is sensitive and accurate, and is suitable for the the determination of low content formaldehyde in cosmetic products.
