A rapid method was developed for the simultaneous determinaion of 23 plant growth regulators in vegetables by ultra high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS/MS).The vegetable samples were extracted with acetonitrile containing 1% acetic acid,followed by salting out with 6 g magnesium sulfate and 1 g sodium chloride,then the solvent extracts were analyzed by UHPLC-MS/MS without further purification.The positive and negative modes and multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) mode were used for identification while the matrix-matched external standard calibration curves were used for quantification.The results showed that there existed good linearities for 23 plant growth regulators in corresponding concentration ranges with their correlation coefficients(r2) higher than 0.98.The average recoveries for 21 plant growth regulators at three spiked levels ranged from 70.2% to 125.6% except that those for chlormequat and mepiquat chloride were from 50.5% to 73.7%,with their relative standard deviations(RSDs) of 0.7%-22.5%.The limits of quantitation of this method were in the range of 1-50 μg/kg.The method is simple,rapid,sensitive and accurate,and is suitable for the rapid qualitation and quantitation for 23 plant growth regulators in vegetables.
