A gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric(GC-MS/MS) method was developed for the determination of 10 kinds of benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbents in coatings.Samples were air-dried into a film
then extracted with hexane or acetonitrile through ultrasonic method.The target ingredients were separated on a DB-5 column(30 m×0.32 mm×0.25 μm) and analyzed under MRM mode.The linear ranges for 10 kinds of benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbents were between 0.1 μg/mL and 10 μg/mL.The limits of detection of this method were 0.6 mg/kg
and the limits of quantitation were 2.0 mg/kg.The recoveries ranged from 71.6% to 112% with relative standard deviations(RSDs
n=6) not more than 5.5%.This method was rapid
convenient
accurate and reliable
and it was appropriate for the routine determination of benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbents in coatings.
