    • Development and Application of a Current Impedance Spectroscopy Tester for Estimating the Health Status of Lithium Batteries

    • This article developed a portable current type electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (GEIS) tester, which has the advantages of high power, high accuracy, and wide frequency testing range, and is suitable for GEIS testing of lithium batteries in different states. This instrument can accurately output excitation signals ranging from 0 to 5 A, and uses a 12 bit digital to analog conversion (DAC) chip to adjust the excitation size. It can detect impedance signals within the range of 100 kHz to 10 mHz. By testing the 456080 lithium battery and comparing it with the results of Gamry Reference 600+, it was found that the relative and absolute errors of the impedance modulus values measured by the instrument did not exceed 0.56% to 1.8%. To validate the proposed algorithm for predicting the state of health (SOH) of batteries, the instrument was used to conduct actual tests on sample batteries, obtaining a total of 486 sets of data on lithium batteries in different states. Using impedance spectrum data as input for XGBoost algorithm can achieve accurate estimation of SOH in lithium batteries, with small average error and good stability. The GEIS testing system developed in this article can provide more real-time impedance spectrum based data for battery life prediction, achieving more comprehensive battery status monitoring.
